Wednesday's Kennel Visitor

When I got home from work Wednesday evening it was cool enough to run the ByDog team!  So of course I jumped at the opportunity.  As I was getting the team ready, we noticed a man down the drive watching us.  Cobey waved him up the drive and he came to meet the team.  Cobey talked to him while he watch as I hooked up the dogs and took off.  We love educating people on the breed, the Siberian Husky, and the sport (mushers LOVE talking about their dogs).

The run was great.  The team pulled the ATV 2 miles in 4th gear.  We've been working on strength building here in the early season.   Go team go!

Then Saturday morning it was another cool morning (not for long though, so we got going quickly).

Tensaw (back right) with his offspring (Buzz, Jig, Buck (back) and Whip). Awww so cute!

Headed out on the canal road.

The team returning from our 5 mile run. Beautiful Bitterroot Saturday.

My leaders: Flier...

...and Okie.
They did amazing today!  There were a number of dog distractions. And they pulled the team on by.  The puppies were not happy about that decision but they are learning from the experienced dogs what we do in these situations. Flier is learning his gee/haw/straight ahead commands nicely. Okie really wanted to turn haw in a spot we had Wednesday but Flier heard me say "straight ahead" and pulled the team straight.  This is a big accomplishment for him.  Okie may be a little dog but she is commanding and what she wants (which is what the musher wants 99% of the time) she gets the team to do. He's stepping up to the task of leader!  Good boy!  But he's learning from the best!  Good girl!

Good puppas!
